Nick Gilbert
Nick grew up biking, skiing and backpacking around his home town of Evergreen, CO. After getting a job in high school taking photos for a local rafting company, he got hooked on the idea of exploring new rivers. Nick learned to kayak as a freshman at Colgate University in Upstate New York where the Adirondacks proved to be the perfect location to fall in love with whitewater. During his summer after freshman year, Nick returned home to Colorado train as a raft guide on Clear Creek with Arkansas Valley Adventures. The tight and continuous rapids on Clear Creek were addictive and Nick spent three seasons guiding on there before journeying out west. During the school year, Nick works as a kayak instructor for Colgate, enabling him to inspire students and share his passion for whitewater.
Nick has traveled to Canada, New Zealand and across the US paddling in 11 different states, all in the name of whitewater. Nick is a Wilderness First Responder, EMT, and is trained in swift water rescue. When not on the river, Nick enjoys photography, biking and art.
Join Nick on the river for both half day and full day trips on the White Salmon River!
