David Seal
Dave grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Portland, Oregon. After attending college on the east coast, he ended up working for an investment bank in New York City. While working late nights in the office and wearing a suit, he discovered whitewater in the Pocono Mountains. It wasn’t long before he decided life was too short to work 80 hours a week in an office, so he packed everything he could fit into his car and headed back west.
Ever since the Poconos, Dave has been kayaking all over the United States and has guided commercial trips on the New and Gauley rivers in West Virginia. When he’s not on the river, you can find him rock climbing, hiking, or mountain biking. He spends his winters working as a ski patroller on Mt. Hood and traveling for more river adventures. In the last few years, he’s spent 26 days rowing through the Grand Canyon and paddled in Ecuador for 2 months!
Seal joined the Wet Planet team in 2012. Dave is a trip leader and guides on the White Salmon, Klickitat, Farmlands, Wind, and Tieton rivers. He is a Whitewater Rescue Technician, certified to instruct Wet Planet’s RRC Pro and RRC swiftwater rescue courses, an ACA kayak instructor, and an Outdoor Emergency Care Technician.
