Pushing off the safe, solid land into a raging whitewater river can be incredibly invigorating, both for the body and the soul.
Similarly, the practice of yoga unifies movements of the body with the steady, powerful flow of the breath to create a calm presence amidst the chaos of our lives.
Now, Yoga and Rafting have found each other on the White Salmon River.
Partnering with North Portland Yoga Studio, Wet Planet is proud to present River Flow: Yoga + Rafting trip on Friday, August 12. Take your Portland white water rafting trip to the next level and sign up for this year’s River Flow.
The day begins with a blast of the crisp, blue glacial water during a rafting trip down the Wild and Scenic White Salmon River.
Yogis will trade their stretchy pants and sticky mats for wet suits and paddles, preparing to embrace the river’s power and grace.
Together, the group will travel just up the road to the outdoor yoga studio. A sweeping vista of Mt Hood and the White Salmon Valley serve as the backdrop while fresh mountain air carries yoga participants through a two-hour yoga practice.
Sweethome, one of North Portland Yoga’s most influential instructors, will bring together the elements of flow and movement from the morning’s river trip into the practice of asanas.
We learn to go with the flow of the river, despite obstacles, horizon lines, and sharp turns.
We surrender to a greater force and trust in our own ability to navigate it safely. We become a part of the flow, breathing in the air and moving with the water down its path.
Yoga teaches us to take this experience into our daily lives, no matter what we are doing.
The day will conclude with a cup of tea from the local garden to fully absorb the day’s whitewater and yoga adventure.
