However, before I start celebrating the warm spring days and return of the paddlers, I have to admit … it was a great winter. We have one of the greatest snow-packs we have seen in recent history. All of the snow that is sitting in the mountains now created some great winter paddling while it was coming down. I had a few magical runs down the Farmlands section of the White Salmon River with the snow falling, had a blast exploring creeks in the Wind River drainage, and had many days in may playboat having a blast in Rattlesnake.
With that said, it is great to see the sun again and get out on the river with blooming flowers replacing the snow!
Wet Planet is ramping up for another great season … we’ve already started
running rafting trips, our first kayak class was last weekend, and we
are getting ready for the second weekend of our 2006 Guide School. The
Klickitat River currently has more water in it than we have seen for
years. So, if you haven’t been on it, or you want to see the Klickitat
at AWESOME water levels, this is the year!
This is my favorite time of the year. The Wet Planet crew is rolling back into
town with great stories of winter adventures, the flowers are blooming,
paddlers are crawling out of their winter hiding spots and flocking
back to the rivers, and all of the rivers are flowing. Springtime is
I look forward to seeing you all on the river again.
