If you don’t have any plans for this weekend, a first of fun river events on the White Salmon river is happening this upcoming Saturday.
Of course we’ll be running White Salmon rafting trips all weekend, that’s a given, but we’re talking about something more. Something communal. Something for everyone.
The local World Kayak Whitewater Family has planned a fun event at Northwestern Park starting at 11 am Saturday!
Join family friendly activities at Northwestern Park for the World Kayak Whitewater Family Fun Day on the river. Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE?! Because it totally is! Our talented youngest Wet Planet Kayak Team member, Clay Lucas, will be helping you hone your rolling techniques in the Wet Planet Kayak Pool. We’ll be holding free 20-minute pool sessions between 11 am and 12:30 pm for groups of up to 6 people at a time. Call us now to make your reservation! We’ll also have our 2-day beginner kayak courses starting at 9 am, at regular rates. So come on over and let us school you!
The Oregon Rafting Team will also be on hand to provide rafts for rides between Husum and the park, and the Kayak Shed will provide boats to demo. ORT member and Longview, Wa. native Jeffery Steehler will also be around to chat about kayaking at a young age, his various whitewater adventures, and about being part of the OR team.
Additionally, you’ll find Clay Ross, a member of the University of Puget Sound Kayak Club. He and his teammates will be answering questions about kayaking and college.
There will also be a kayak race at Husum Falls, throwbag golf, prizes, and more! If you get hungry, brats and Ninkasi brews will be served at the adjoining BBQ. It’s all free, but if you want to bring a dessert for after the BBQ we’re definitely into it.
Stoked? We are! Come on out Saturday and join us on the water!
