Ladies! It’s time for another Women’s paddling clinic with your favorite Wet Planet girl instructors… This time, we’re headed to the Tieton River!
On Sunday, September 15, Wet Planet is hosting the final installment of our Women’s Paddling series this year. Instructors Libby and Jackie will be teaching the Tieton Down River Clinic. At Wet Planet, we believe that kayaking is not gender specific. Both males and females can paddle any level of whitewater. However, we do also understand that males and females tend to receive and learn information differently. This course will allow you to be able to share your fears and learn in the comfortable, welcoming, encouraging and fun environment of other ladies, lead and facilitated by our fearless Wet Planet ladies!
The Tieton is 15 miles of continuous bouncy, splashy, fast moving class III whitewater including fun rapids and big wave trains. The course will focus on sharpening skills every paddler can use– aggressive ferrying moves, body rotation with your paddle strokes, how to paddle through or over big waves, punching holes, and maybe even some surfing at the famous bridge wave. It’s a class II-III river with warmer water, so it’s perfect for beginner/intermediate paddlers. However, since the waves are continuous and the flow moves very quickly, so we do ask that you have a combat roll before taking this class.
You can meet us at the Wet Planet Camp location close to Rim Rock Lake. We’ll be starting around 9:00AM on Sunday morning, so we invite and encourage you to come camp with us on Saturday night and get to know your instructors and the other women! You could also get there Saturday afternoon and already get a paddle in!
The environment is remote, beautiful, dry, and typically sunny that time of the year, while fall colors have set in, and the evenings are getting chillier. Our camp is set in the woods, in a private area just off the river. Hopefully the fire ban will be lifted and we can have our campfires by then!
