Starting in September, when most rivers begin running low, you have the chance for one last rafting adventure on the Tieton River! This class III run is fast, continuous, and surrounded by fall foliage and ponderosa pines in the beautiful Yakima Valley. As a dam-release river, the river’s water is contained in a reservoir; allowing it to warm throughout the summer. The water’s perfect temperature makes this a great late-summer and early-fall fun, splashy run!
While our main headquarters are in the Columbia River Gorge, we bring everything to you for a great day in central Washington! We provide all the gear for your rafting adventure, prepare a hot BBQ meal to be enjoyed after your trip, and provide camping for your party the evening before or the night of your trip. Photos of your rafting adventure will be taken along the river for you to view and purchase after your trip, and we bring all the Wet Planet memorabilia you could dream of – t-shirts, sweatshirts, tanks, and more!
The Yakima valley has much to offer. It is easy to turn your half day rafting adventure into a weekend of exploring with all of the hiking, fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, and birding that the area offers. Several noteworthy hikes include the Tieton River Trail; 6.75 miles long, the Cowiche Canyon; 3 miles one way, and the Bear Canyon Trail; 4 miles round trip.
In addition to the natural wonders and activities of the area, there are cultural experiences to be enjoyed! Check out the Saturday Farmers Market in Prosser and enjoy local food and crafts, or head to the Central Washington State Fair held in late September and early October. Don’t leave the Yakima Valley without partaking in a local wine tour! There are botanical gardens to be enjoyed, as well as performing arts. The Yakima Symphony Orchestra, Capital Theatre, and the Seasons Performance Hall all have something to offer! Historical attractions consist of the American Hop Museum – dedicated to the crop that many enjoy, as well as the Central Washington Agricultural Museum and the Northern Pacific Railway Museum.
We love Tieton season, and we know you will too. Book your trip today. We look forward to getting you out on the river!
