Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year for many reasons… I love the changing of the leaves, the refreshing chill in the air after a hot summer, getting cozy in my warm house, and spending time on the river! Here are some of the reasons why October rafting is some of the best of the year.
First of all, the scenery is awesome! Bright colorful leaves line the trees and those that have fallen flow through the water next to your raft. The weather is a bit wetter than the dry, hot, Washington summer, so little mushrooms and lichens start to pop back out of the mossy walls.
Another reason I love being on the water in the Fall is that there are fewer people on the river than in busier July or August. Most of the summer visitors have gone back to school and work, and the White Salmon is left quiet and peaceful. Although the river never feels “crowded,” it’s still nice to feel like you have the place all to yourself!
The fall rains bring all of the springs and waterfalls to life again, and the water literally runs down the canyon walls. It gives a magical feel to the whole trip! The increased water levels also make for more fun, bouncy, splashier rapids! While we’re still running the Upper Stretch and Husum Falls, October water levels are higher and splashier than you’ll see in August or September. Worried about rafting in the rain? We’ll give you extra fleece and neoprene gear to keep you warm (all included in the cost of the trip!)
At Wet Planet, we want to share the beautiful Fall serenity with you and your family. Come rafting with us during the month of October, and you’ll receive a 15% discount! We are running trips until October 18th, so book now!
Our trips are still able to run the exclusive Upper section, as well as Husum Falls, but this time, soak in the unique views and feel like you’re on a private trip.
