My name is Naomi Elyard! I am an avid kayaker and a lover of the outdoors. I have lived in the Gorge my whole life. I became part of the Wet Planet team in 2016, when I was just 14 years old! I have worked a variety of jobs at the Café, but this year I will be transitioning into a kayak instructor. I am eager to share my love of whitewater with everyone and anyone. Wet Planet is where my love of whitewater was created, and it has led me many wild places. In 2019, I had the privilege of attending World Class Kayak Academy. World Class Kayak Academy is a fully accredited high school that uses athletics as a platform to travel the world and pursue the sport of whitewater kayaking. During my time at the school I traveled to both Quebec, Canada and Costa Rica. This opportunity allowed me to further develop my skills for kayaking and was an everyday reminder of why the sport is my passion. I graduated high school in June 2020, and will be attending Western Washington University where I intend to become a first grade teacher. Kayaking, kids, laughter, and smiles are my favorite things!
I am also a writer for the Wet Planet blog, The Eddy Line! Check out some of my work here:
