Amanda Sharie

Amanda hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she fell in love with the outdoors at a young age. The wilderness was both her playground and her classroom, as her early years were spent camping and hiking with her family. Her first exposure to whitewater started with kayaking local rivers with her dad. Enamored with the magic of whitewater, she began raft guiding and safety kayaking on the Youghiogheny River where she worked for four summers. It was here she discovered her passion for sharing the joy of whitewater with others, and truly became immersed in the river world.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in public health in December 2016, Amanda moved to the west coast. She made her winter home in Big Sky, Montana, where she worked as a ski instructor and quickly fell in love with the mountains and rivers of the west.

Amanda is passionate about sharing the many joys of outdoor recreation with others, especially those with disabilities and other unique circumstances. She has worked and volunteered for several programs that help these individuals experience adventure sports, including adaptive climbing, skiing, rafting, and kayaking. It is her ambition to continue sharing what she loves with this community, and one day make a career in Therapeutic Recreation. After all, “there is no greater joy than to share what you love with those who appreciate it.”

When not on the river, you can find Amanda mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, backpacking, and kickin’ it with her friends. She is thrilled to be living and working in the ultimate outdoor playground here in White Salmon, and excited to be part of the Wet Planet Team!
