Peter Farmelo
Peter hails from Buffalo, NY where he learned to ski at the ripe age of 3. His first taste of whitewater was in West Virginia on a 3 day multi-day rafting trip on the New River at the tender age of 6. The delicious food at camp and swimming out of a flipped ducky sealed his fate for the rest of his life.
He rekindled his love for moving bodies of water as an adult when he transferred to CU Boulder in Colorado. He swiftly joined the CU Kayak club and then immediately became heavily addicted to whitewater kayaking. This addiction lasted him throughout the remainder of his time there which took him to a variety of places in North America including Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, New Mexico, Arizona and Quebec in search of new horizon lines.
After college he decided to share his love for the river with others by becoming a raft guide. He stayed close to where he graduated and worked for Liquid Descent on Clear Creek and Gore Canyon of the Colorado, honing his skills as a raft guide, safety kayaker and photo /video kayaker. After spending 8 summers in Colorado, he decided it was time for a change of scenery and rapids and is beyond stoked to join the seasoned team here at Wet Planet.
Kayaking has taken him all over the United States and he has also traveled to many exciting parts of the globe including Africa, Australia and he was also a raft guide and safety/photo kayaker in Costa Rica as well.
When not splashin’ and laughin’ on the river, Peter enjoys schralping the slopes on his skis in the winter and ripping up the local skatepark or paved hill on his skateboard.
Join Peter on the river for beginner or advanced kayak instruction this summer! He will also be guiding both half day and full day trips on the White Salmon River.
