Kristy grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA and has always loved the outdoors and travel. Her love for white water rafting started at a young age. Her parents took her rafting on a family trip for her 8th birthday on the Chattooga River. From then on, she was hooked to the beauty and the thrill of whitewater. Her parents began taking her rafting for her birthday every summer, enabling her to explore many new rivers. Then she grew up and went off to college at the University of Georgia (go dawgs!) and expanded her adventures in the outdoors. She learned to kayak with the UGA Whitewater Club and spent the next few years exploring rivers in the Southeast including the Chattooga, Ocoee, Tallulah and Gauley. In 2006, she started raft guiding on the Chattooga River in Long Creek, SC and the Ocoee River in Ducktown,TN, and continued guiding throughout college. After completing an M.A. of Anthropology, she ventured westward. She explored a new area each summer; spending time guiding on the Yampa and Green River in CO as well as the Tuolumne and Merced in California. She spent her winters in Telluride, CO skiing beautiful steep mountains. When she isn’t on the river or ski slope, she enjoys reading and hiking with her dog, Xena. She loves to travel throughout the U.S. and to other countries, and can’t wait to see what adventures she’ll find in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
Join Kristy on the river for both half day and full day trips on the White Salmon River! You can also find her in the office, helping things run smoothly behind the scenes and answering all of your whitewater related questions.
