Hana grew up in Portland and spent her time playing outside and getting to know the feeling of being wild and free. As a child, she developed her passion for activity through competitive dance, swimming, and snowboarding. It wasn’t until she was in high school that she started seeing the beauty of the pacific northwest for what it was. If it was a powder day on the mountain or a sunny day in the Gorge, Hana would be there. By her senior year in high school, Hana juggled working on the mountain as a lift operator and at the pool as a lifeguard so that she could keep snowboarding and swimming as much as possible.
After high school, Hana went to school for pre-nursing and EMT, but took all of her electives in outdoor education. This is when she took her first rock climbing class and was instantly hooked. She wanted to see more of the world, and found herself backpacking through India and Nepal. Her travel experience rocked her world and made her question the need for traditional western comforts. A year after coming back from India she interned at an apiary in Santa Cruz and picked up yet another hobby (beekeeping).
Hana returned to Portland with a new enthusiasm for life. She spent the next spring touring volcanos on a splitboard and climbing with her friend Jeff. Their outdoor partnership turned into a life partnership and they moved to a little cabin on Mt. Hood together. Fast forward two years and now Hana and Jeff are in the middle of converting a big, yellow school bus into an RV so that they can continue chasing snow and rock around the country.
Hana loves her bike commute to Wet Planet and is constantly inspired by the beauty around her!
